England International Will Raison has cruised into the RiveFest final after finishing runner up in the recent Thames qualifier.
The Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier on the Thames between Abingdon and Appleford was fished by 53 anglers on a clear river with very little flow on Saturday 8th October 2016. With the clear river the fish are shoaling up tightly which meant a lot of anglers struggled and end pegs were a massive bonus on the day.
1st Brian Preece – Bridgnorth – 19lb 15oz. Brian drew bottom end peg on Appleford and had 10lb of roach on pole and caster at 9m and then had 2 bonus bream on 14m pole and worm.
2nd Will Raison (England International) – Daiwa – 19lb 1oz. Will drew opposite the rowing club at Abingdon and had a bream and quality roach at 16m on caster and then had perch, biggest 3lb 10oz at 6m on worm.
3rd Jim Brockie – Sensas WB Clarks – 14lb 5oz. Jim drew top end peg at Abingdon and had 230 fish on 5m whip and maggot over groundbait.
4th Mick Vials – 12lb 5oz.
The qualifiers for the RiverFest grand final on the River Wye in November are;
